20th August — the day in 1991 when you came into my life and made me a mother.
Rayyan, when I look back at the years since that day, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I think of the little boy you were, the young man you grew into, and the wonderful person you are today. So much has changed over these years, and yet, through every chapter, you have remained someone very special to me.
You are not just my son. You have been my strength, my support, my comfort, and someone I know I can count on.
Life took us through many different seasons. You became a big brother when your sister came into our lives in 1995. Then, just a year later, our family faced one of its most difficult chapters when I was diagnosed with cancer. You motivated me to fight with all I had.
You were still so young, yet as the years went by, I watched you grow into someone who understood the meaning of love, responsibility and standing by the people who matter. You saw me go through one of the toughest battles of my life, and your presence and support became a quiet source of strength for me.
I don't know whether I have ever told you enough how much that has meant to me.
Then came the move to Byndoor in 2002, returning to Bangalore in 2010, discovering your interest in animation, studying at Arena Animation, beginning your working life in 2014, and eventually entering another beautiful chapter of your life when you got married in 2020.
When I look at your journey, I don't just see the milestones.
I see the person you have become along the way.
And there is one quality in you that I appreciate perhaps more than anything else — your calmness.
You have a peaceful nature that is rare.
You don't easily get carried away by emotions or unnecessary drama. You have a wonderful ability to step back, think things through, look at a situation rationally, and respond with wisdom. Even when things are difficult, you often bring a sense of calm and perspective that makes everything seem a little more manageable.
As your mother, I cannot tell you how much I value that.
There have been moments when I may have been worried, emotional or overwhelmed, and your calm, logical way of looking at things has helped me see situations differently. Sometimes you don't even have to say very much. Your presence itself brings a sense of steadiness.
That peaceful, rational and thoughtful nature is one of the things that makes me immensely proud of you.
You have grown into a man who thinks before he acts, listens before he judges, (or may be avoid judging?) and tries to understand before reacting. That kind of wisdom cannot be taught from a book. It comes from character, experience and the way a person chooses to live.
And then, of course, there is the fun-loving Rayyan — the boy who grew up loving Marvel and DC, especially Batman, and the man who still enjoys the freedom of cycling and the peace of being in the water swimming!
I love that combination in you — the wise and sensible man, alongside the boy who can still get excited about superheroes. ❤️
Perhaps that's what makes you, YOU!
You have grown, matured and taken on responsibilities, but you have never lost the parts of yourself that bring you joy.
Today, as your Maa, my wish for you is not simply that you become more successful or achieve more.
My wish is that you remain the person you are.
May you always have that peaceful heart.
May you keep your wisdom when life becomes complicated.
May you continue to think rationally without losing your kindness.
May you have the courage to follow your dreams and the patience to let life unfold in its own time.
May you be surrounded by people who appreciate the wonderful person you are.
And may you receive back, many times over, all the love, care and strength you have given to those around you.
I am proud of the son you were, proud of the young man you became, and deeply proud of the man you are today.
You have been there through some of the most important chapters of my life, and in ways you may never fully understand, you have been one of the people who helped me keep going.
A mother is supposed to be the one who gives strength to her child.
But somewhere along our journey, you became one of the people who gave strength to me.
That is a gift I will carry in my heart forever.
No matter how many birthdays come and go, no matter how much life changes, or how many new chapters you write, you will always be my son — my little Rayyan, my calm and rational voice, my source of strength, and one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Happy Birthday, my dearest Rayyan. ❤️
May the years ahead bring you good health, peace, love, laughter, meaningful success and countless reasons to smile.
And may you always remember how deeply you are loved, how immensely you are valued, and how incredibly proud your Maa is of you.
I love you more than words can ever express.
With all my love, always,
Maa ❤️
